Feature Request: Bulk File Renaming

A bit outside the goals of the project, perhaps, but to make it a useful organizer in a broader sense:

It'd be a nice feature to be able to copy+rename and/or rename library files in bulk into a new base directory, based on actors, genres, and sites.

Were I to do this my approach would be:

1. Include an abbreviated form of genres, actors, and sites; strict character restrictions to (for instance) alphanumerics and hyphens.

2. Provide a button to trigger the operation for one or multiple library items

3. Popup asks for destination path and a box in which the user can add genres, actors, and sites to be factored into the filename, and in what order. Additional elements could be the original filename, resolution, length, rating, etc. Optionally let the user decide a delimiter (underscore, space, period, etc.)

4. User submits

5. Verify new base directory has sufficient space for all file copies

6. Loop through library files and for each:
6a: Copy file to new base directory
6b: Build new filename a portion at a time per the user's defined list
6c: If new filename already exists, append an incremented number
6d: Rename file

The net result could look like something like:
Family.Pennsylvania.2013-1.mp4
Family.Pennsylvania.2013-2.mp4
Brad.Office.2011.mp4

Or for a more colorful library:
5star-FM-nude-redhead.HD.mp4
3star-FF-action-1.mp4
3star-FF-action-2.mp4

Use Case:

The software is great for as long as you're in a Windows environment, but if your library is in a network location or you want it otherwise viewable across devices, the only common denominator will be the filename and directory structure.

Being able to set those--completely or in part--through this software would give the software a cross-platform benefit without having to directly be cross-platform. Suddenly all your work to establish the tags will have a benefit outside the software, too. The value of the software is thus expanded.

Anyway, maybe just a pipe dream but wanted to suggest it.

Hello.
Thank you for your request.
I like some of your ideas and will take them into account.

Thank you again.

Thank ye, sir.

Just FYI, the bulk renaming idea was inspired by http://www.mp3tag.de/en/

Hmm. And I just noticed there's no way to manually rename filenames now, within the application? If we could get that, at least, that'd be awesome. I'm actually kind of afraid of beginning the process of tagging all my library if, when I go to make filenames more helpful, they'd lose sync with the application.

Yes, I could add renaming feature but it may appear that VTX files outside the database will start to point to nowhere after that renaming.

Videonizer 4.1.0.0 is released.
Still without bulk renaming (you can rename files one by one), but with bulk file moving ;)
