Hi -
I was considering upgrading to Silver, but I now have problems with the free version. Whenever I make a thumbnail sheet, all I get is a sheet containing the image taken at app. 01:44:00 in of the video in which the problem appeared. I've uninstalled the program several times, and run System Restore. After system restore, I am able to make one thumbnail sheet, then the problem reoccurs -- the same image from the first video thumbnail sheet I create is replicated on all other subsequent sheets I try to make. This appears to be random. If I change the thumbnail matrix, sometimes it resets but it never lasts more than two or three video outputs before it starts repeating again. Filesize appears to make no difference. Changing VTM settings, including turning on or off Memory Economy mode, has no effect. The log file shows only 'Process started' and the time.

This started happening all of a sudden from one set of thumbnails to the next. I tried upgrading to 6.4.03 but that didn't work at all -- making thumbnails failed and showed a red x regardless of filetype, and the log showed a message about the registry being locked.

What gives?

Thanks...

Hi.

1) Try to use Crystal engine instead of Engine 1 or 2.
2) Engines 1, 2, Extreme use your system's codecs so VTM is not responsible for that.
3) My advice is to install CCCP codec pack.

The problem appears to be that VTM breaks if the video has the audio codec "Microsoft DTV-DVD Audio Decoder". If a file has this codec, the next file processed will hang on the last image from the previous file that did not have this audio codec and repeat that image in the VTM output. Also, the time code of the output will break, showing times that do not exist in the processed file.

I know this because I converted the audio from a file with the offending codec to AC3/LAV and VTM processed the file correctly.

Attached are shots of codec data before and after the audio conversion. This appears to be a fixable bug, let me know if decide to patch in a fix for the next update.

As to the question why VTM VTM_6.4.03 doesn't process any files due to a registry access failure, this is a problem that doesn't occur in VTM_6.4.02. I can't purchase a product that can't explain a registry access from one version to the next, so I'll stick with V VTM_6.4.02 Free unless you can come up with a fix for VTM_6.4.03. I'm using Avast -- perhaps all I need to do is add an exception, but that doesn't explain why the registry access was necessary in VTM_6.4.03 and exactly what it does.

Thanks...

BTW Crystal engine was selected for the above, other options were grayed out.
