I just updated from version 6 to version 8... .congratulations! The Ultimate engine is really fast :D

I have a bunch of older 320 x 240 MPEGs that are creating blocky thumbnails, though. If I use engine 1 or engine 2 (or even Crystal) I donʻt get this blockiness. Is there a way to specify the engine per file type? That way I could use Ultimateʻs speed for AVI, MKV etc. while getting more accurate previews for MPEG files.

Thanks!

Could you please share an example?

Sure. Compare this thumbnail (Ultimate engine):

with this one, using Crystal engine:

Note this isn't a 320x240 video but the effect is the same.

Thank you for the file.
It looks like the problem has no fast solution.
Maybe it is a rare MPEG-PS limitation and Ultimate engine just can not process that format fast.
As far as I understand, all of your older mpegs have the same issue?

Yes, quite a few of them. What is a MPEG-PS?

Is there no way you could set the Ultimate Engine to recognise them?
